BIO
Marcos Davi Lisboa is a Brazilian jazz guitarist performer and composer.
His music brings the guitar's natural connection to classical music, jazz, choro, samba and many other genres.
As an instrumentalist, he is influenced by Egberto Gismonti, Baden Powell, Raphael Rabello, Ralph Towner, Ulisses Rocha and Cesar Camargo Mariano.
His main teachers were James Liberato (Brazil), Eduardo Castañera (Argentina), Ulisses Rocha (Brazil) and Torsten Klentze (Germany).
As a composer, he is influenced by Johan Sebastian Bach, Antônio Carlos Jobim, Heitor Villa-lobos, Ira Gershwin, Claude Debussy and Ernesto Nazareth.
Nominated for the 2006 Açorianos Music Award for his CD CASA III.
His work was selected by ITAÚ CULTURAL – Rumos Música, one of the most important institution for culture in Brazil.
He has performed in Uruguay, Germany, France, Switzerland, Belgium, Spain, Luxembourg, Austria and the Netherlands.
At the invitation of the CCRD Center Culturel Régional de Delémont, he spent a long period in Switzerland, playing in solo and quartet presentations in several cities in the country, such as Delemont, Basel, Listal, Geneva, Freiburg and Lausanne. Also, at the invitation of Fnac Switzerland, he performed solo concerts in all the network's units, working on the launch of his book "Composições Para Violão Brasileiro - Samba, Choro, Valsa e Outra Invenções".
In France, in addition to solo performances, he worked and recorded with French musicians, where he also collaborated with music for theater.
In Munich, Germany, he worked as an instructor of harmony, repertoire and guitar technique, standing out for using Brazilian music as methodology.
He was also a professor at EM&T – School of Music and Technology – SP, under the direction of Ulisses Rocha and Mozart Mello.
